BT rappers chant glory in gospel cypher
For the first time in the history of Christian rap, artists from Blantyre have dropped a gospel cypher, which is currently trending on some popular Internet sites such as Youtube.
According to www.urbandictionary.com, a cypher is anything cyclical and in music it involves rapping or singing one after another.
One of the Christican rappers, Victor Chipofya aka Uniq 1, on Tuesday said the debut gospel cypher is sign of growth of the Christian rap industry in the country.
He said the country has witnessed cyphers done by numerous secular rappers from Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
Chipofya said it has been a struggle for Christian rap to be accepted in the church.
“Now it feels there is no need to explain ourselves before every performance on why the movement of Christian rap is important for the church today,” he said.
The Blantyre gospel cypher features rappers such as Stan Gray, C-Mac, Regenerate, Mista Gray, Jeremiah, TNO, eQ, Adroit-Echo, K.I, G-Will, MPJ & G.O.G. It has been produced by Shats of Imagine Records and its video has been filmed and directed by Dayvee of Y4C Media. n
